The Bioethics Bulletin,

Vol 3, 2023

In this issue we focus on the topic right to healthcare. We present a few articles looking at various aspects of this issue. While everyone agrees that providing access to health for all is desirable, the difficult questions revolve around whether every human being can claim it as his or her right, and if so, who will take the responsibility to ensure it. While our constitution doesn’t explicitly state that health is a fundamental right of its citizens, it can be derived from some of its other assertions like right to life and personal liberty. The WHO promotes a right to primary health for all. But that raises the practical problem of drawing a line between primary and higher levels of healthcare.
